Taormina is Sicily’s best-known postcard, and it lives up to it: the Greek theatre looking over the Ionian sea, the gardens, the historic hotels. It is the classic base for the east coast, with good availability of five-star properties and event spaces.
Behind it stands Etna, which changes the tone of a programme: excursions to the craters, wineries on the northern slope, lava flows and landscapes that look like nothing else on the island. The two together work well for incentives and small groups.
